Cipango and Suzalah arrived Cipango followed by Suzalah put an end to the
first edition of the Atlantic Trophy by cutting the finish line yesterday afternoon.
This is a great satisfaction for all to see in douarnenez all the boats who started
from Horta a few days ago. This race was run entirely downwind for most of the
boats, under fairly mild. Most of them will long remember the wonderful starry
nights spent at sea or the encounter with the whalest. A dream summer ends
with some very strong, especially the quality of reception in Douarnenez and Horta.
The Azorean leave the memories of such beautiful things that many people return
to this beautiful island that they discovered through the race.

What a night! No fewer than four boats arrived in the late evening in less
than four hours and that after about eight days of racing! And what outstanding,
what a tragedy! In fact the crew of Calypso who was yesterday morning's third
place in the stage in the provisional standings (and thus the first place overall)
was arrested at the tip of Brittany by an area with no wind. Three other competitors
have taken advantage of this situation to come from behind with a good breeze
and interposed between the second ranked Amazon and Calypso. Misery of some
and delight others, the sailing race is therefore one of those sports where anything
can be reversed until the final whistle is not given. Calypso and her crew so
friendly meditate on that long shot jarnaque which also the beauty of this sport.
By this turn of events is so that Amazon will be the winner of this race pending
the outcome of which will remain engraved in our memories for long.

Arrival of Amazon and Emeraude At respectively 11:14 p.m. yesterday and 6:48
today French time as Amazon and Emeraude arrived in the port of Douarnenez. Tired
but very happy with their course, especially happy to finish the first places
after more than six days of racing, but also pleased the great adventure they
have just experienced through their participation in this first edition of the
Atlantic Trophy . Just landed and unanimous in their only wish and be able
to leave soon on a new course.

Honnor to the smaller boats In a race that mixes small and large boats, the
coefficients assigned to each of them (according to size, weight, sail area ...)
can correct their time giving them the opportunity to race together. The weather
can sometimes then more or less to facilitate small and large boats. In this leg
where the winds are healthy enough support large vessels are favored and one can
only salute the performance of smaller boats such as Lady Mone and Suzalah -resistant
and do not let go in order to stay in the race to the end. We know that the final
hours of race are always difficult and it is in the last tactical choices that
everything can be played. Staying in contact with the fleet is a priority at this
game and these two boats realize a real performance.

Get back into the rhythm "Hello, first calm night under asymmetrical
spinnaker. We go gently into the race and watching our opponents we stick to the"
Basque ". This morning the wind is falling and we go to 2.5 knts. The morale
is good and we monitor the cash coming from wind. "The message is signed
by the crew of Westward Clynder and shows itself in the first 24 hours of racing
in the second place of Oberthur Atlantic Trophy. Leaving Horta in the Azores yesterday,
so the crews began their ascent to the Britanny and Douarnenez. After a perfect
first night for a throw-up, the wind has been a weakness in the morning, operating
a brake. In mind, Amazon, skippered by Olivier Pecoux, took command, followed
closely by Italian boat Emeraude, and settled on a middle position relative to
the rest of the fleet. Corrected time, the lovely Lady Mone, one of the smaller
yachts in the race, taking the lead, down from its position modeled on the direct
route. Shifted further to the north of the first, Calypso III won the first leg
corrected time chose a different path, imitated in this by Gweneven. But for all
classic yachts, the next obstacle to be negotiated should be embodied in the negotiation
of a front tomorrow night which should generate very sustained winds in the coming
days. But by then, up to the concentration of one side to the other and a reorganization
of the rhythms sailors, landed after a long layover ...

2.40 p.m local time. Departure It was at 4:40 p.m. as the fleet of Oberthur
Technologies Atlantic Trophy started to Douarnenez. The best start is to the account
of Olbia followed closely by Cipango and Westward of Clynder. Calypso has
chosen to change the Genoa in 2 minutes before the gun will be the last to cross
the line. After completing a course show off the port of Horta boats are now way
out to sea. Most boats seem to have chosen to leave the north to avoid an area
of light winds installed on the direct route.

Sailors and their boats need the sea, spray and adventure.
The
